Kathy is a founding partner of the research-based practice RVTR and Associate Professor at the University of Michigan Tuabman College of Architecture and Urban Planning. She is a licensed architect, a member of the ACADIA BoD, and is collaborating on the Canadian pavilion at the 2016 Venice Biennale.

RVTR is a design-research platform exploring the agency of architecture and urban design within the context of dynamic ecological systems, infrastructures, energies, materially and technologically mediated environments and emerging social organizations.

Awards include the Canadian Professional Prix de Rome in Architecture, two Architecture Magazine R&D Awards, an Architizer A+ Architecture Award, an RAIC Award of Excellence for Innovation in Architecture, an OAA Award of Excellence, and the Architectural League Prize for Young Architects + Designers. Work and writing has been published in numerous journals and edited books. "Infra Eco Logi Urbanism" was published in 2015.
